Libby Newman, Assistant Principal |
Assistant Principal, Mrs. Libby Newman strives to make a difference in the lives of students at Jasper Elementary School. Mrs. Newman credits teachers of her past that inspired her to have a desire to be a difference to others. Mrs. Newman received her B.S. from Lee University in elementary education, followed by a M.A.E.D. in middle grades education, and an E.dS in educational administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.
As someone who taught for twenty one years prior to entering school administration, Mrs. Newman still considers teaching to be her primary role. She has taught grades K, 2, 4, 6, and 8. She has been a gifted coordinator and AYP coordinator as well. Always focusing on students and her community, she has been a sponsor for BETA, Ecology, 4-H, and Coordinator for Ducktown Rural Challenge. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Ducktown-Basin Museum, Fannin County Tree Board, Green Gold Conservancy, and the Copper Basin Rural Challenge. At JES, you find her working with teachers and students with RTI, curriculum, discipline, testing, maintenance, or anything that needs to be done. Mrs. Newman is proud to be a part of a school that does whatever it takes to help kids succeed. Outside of school, you will find her reading, enjoying her family and friends, visiting bookstores, and traveling.
