Dr. Nonnie Weeks, Principal

 

 

 

 

 


Dr. Nonnie Weeks has been an educator for 26 years; 23 of those years have been in public education, one in private and two in the corporate field. She taught ninth grade English in Liberty Center, Iowa for three years before moving back to Georgia. While teaching in high school she also coached speech and cheerleading and was the school newspaper sponsor.

After moving to Georgia she taught English to Japanese businessmen for the Honda Cooperation through the Language Institute of Atlanta. She was also employed by the H & R Block Tax Company to teach tax classes to their employees.

Dr. Weeks began her teaching career in Georgia in private school. She taught Kindergarten for one year and was then hired by Cherokee County School System. She taught fourth grade for three years and fifth grade for one year. During that time she received her Masters of Education in School Counseling and worked for nine years as an elementary school counselor.

After receiving her doctorate in Administration and Leadership, Dr. Weeks accepted a position as the assistant principal of Pickens County Middle School. She was at PCMS for a year and a half and was then assigned to work at Hill City Elementary School as the assistant principal. After two years there, she accepted a Principal’s position in Murray County at Spring Place Elementary School.

In the spring of 2006, the principal’s position at Jasper Elementary School was open and Dr. Weeks was chosen to fill that position. This is her second year as the Principal of Jasper Elementary.

Dr. Weeks received her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Asbury College in Kentucky, Masters of Education in School Counseling from the University of West Georgia, and Doctorate of Education from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She is a National Board Certified Counselor and a member of Phi Delta Kappa.
